Vintage Woven Bentwood Coffee Table

A low, generously sized coffee table made from wide strips of bentwood, woven by hand into a chunky basketweave. The top is tightly interlaced to give a flat, usable surface. Around the sides, the strips loosen into deep, looping curves, so the table looks soft and almost textile-like from every angle. The wood has a rich, mottled chestnut finish that has deepened with age, and its tones vary from honey to dark walnut.
It's a statement piece that balances craft with a sculptural, architectural form. It sits beautifully on oak floors and in front of linen or bouclé sofas, and suits stone and travertine accessories like the ones shown here.
