Vintage Carved Moai Figures
£380.00
A pair of hand-carved figures in the style of the moai of Rapa Nui (Easter Island). Each has the familiar long face, heavy brow and strong nose, with arms carved close to the body. The figures are made from porous volcanic stone in two contrasting tones: a pale sandy ochre and a deeper earthy brown. Their rough, pitted texture and warm colours give them a strong presence. Displayed together, the different heights make a natural pairing on a bookshelf, mantelpiece or console, where they add a sculptural, slightly whimsical note among books, ceramics and stone.
