Carved Wooden Head on Stone Stand
£680.00
A hand-carved wooden head with a lot of character. It has two sculpted hair buns, a broad smile and a separately carved tongue that pokes out. The surface still has much of its original white and ochre paint, now worn back in places to the wood beneath. That patina comes from decades of age and handling.
The head is mounted on a slim black metal rod and a solid granite base, so it can be displayed as a sculpture. It looks good on a bookshelf, console or mantelpiece, especially among clean modern pieces, where it adds warmth, humour and a sense of history.
